FAQ

IS YOUR TAXIDERMY ART REALLY ETHICAL?

YES! We gather all specimens, bones and animal "parts" after they died naturally from either natural predators, natural causes as in illness, still birth or old age, natural accidents, and foraging in the woods/roadside. All animals that have been found or given are all ethical and died of natural causes. We will never kill any animals that are domesticated or wild to produce art. Although we cannot disclose our sources due to trade secrets and business reasons we can guarantee these specimens and animals are all ethically sourced and no animals were harmed in the making of our art. There are many people and business's promoting themselves as an ethically sourced artist/company but it might not be true. It can always be misleading but we are 100% cruelty free and we always will be! If you ever have any questions please reach out.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I RECIEVE MY WET SPECIMEN?

When you receive your wet specimen in the mail please be careful opening the package (glass/chemicals) and put gloves nitrile or latex on once box is open. Read all care instructions/warnings and disclaimers in the package and posted on this website before taking out the specimen. (please note that each specimen may be delivered differently) some may have isopropyl alcohol still in the jar, there may be none or some may be included in a separate container/bag. The most important thing to do is put the specimen into the jar (if separated) and fill immediately with 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) close the jar and wipe up/sanitize any drips affecting the area. Discard gloves, mask and anything that may have touched the specimen, directly into the trash. Do not allow children to do this process as these active chemicals are dangerous! If you have any questions regarding this process please email or message us and we will be happy to help!

ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING A WET SPECIMEN! NEVER TOUCH A SPECIMEN BARE HANDED OR ON THE SKIN. ALWAYS WEAR A MASK AND GLOVES WHEN HANDLING! DO NOT LET CHILDREN OR PETS NEAR ANY SPECIMEN.

WHAT DO YOU USE TO PRESERVE WET SPECIMENS?

All specimens are fixed/injected with 10% formalin and submerged into 70% isopropyl alcohol.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE TRADE?

I am self taught and have been practicing taxidermy for 9+ years!

DO YOU SHIP OR MAKE THE TAXIDERMY WITH/NEAR THE BODY CARE/HOME FRAGRANCE?

NO, we will not be shipping them together. Due to sanitary/contamination issues from the chemicals used in the taxidermy specimens we will ship the body care/ home fragrance separately. If you would like to purchase the body care/home fragrance along with the taxidermy you must place 2 separate transactions or your order will be canceled and you will be refunded. If this happens please perform 2 separate transactions with the same products again and if the listing says sold out it might take a couple of days to repost. Please email stepintodelirium@gmail.com if this happens. Specify what happened and also the listings of it's been more than 2 days. We get plenty of orders and we might not see this immediately.

I cannot guarantee when the refund will hit your original payment method or when the posting will be re-listed. please reach out with any concerns.

NO, we also do not create the taxidermy/specimens any where near the home fragrance/body care.

We use a separate studio to make all body care and home fragrance. We use gloves and fulfill orders in the designated studio as well.

I HAVE AN ANIMAL/PET, CAN YOU PRESERVE IT?

YES, but It depends on many factors. I can only preserve an animal/pet if you live in the DFW - Texas area and if the body is "fresh" and has not decomposed which is difficult for a client to determine sometimes because of any conditions it might have been found in. The body must be viable for me to work on. (Which will be determined upon examining the specimen in person and worked on.) Once working on the specimen received It may later be determined that the specimen is not viable which means the specimen will have to be discarded. When an animal/specimens decomposition is too far along It cannot be preserved properly and the preservation process will fail. Also, I can only work on a specimen if it is local. If you live in the DFW area and have a animal that has recently passed (preferably in the first 30 minutes death) please wrap in a plastic airtight bag (preferably ziploc type) and immediately put the fully sealed bag with specimen in the freezer. To reach me the fastest please send a DM on IG. My link is at the bottom of my webpage or send me an email at stepintodelirium@gmail.com. I will get back to you asap for approval of pick-up/drop-off info. All quoted prices will vary due to size, labor, type of preservation process and time associated with preservation. These quotes of pricing may also be raised or lowered later on during the preservation process due to any new arising factors. Please note that there may be a waiting list to have your pet/found animal to be preserved. I can give you an approximate timeline to when the animal will be preserved but it will be a month minimum time due to the chemical or "other" preservation process. (Look at "other forms of taxidermy I can do" below this tab) Please make sure to give all correct information to contact you when the specimen preservation is completed. Payments will be made up front and cannot be canceled or refunded once I'm given the specimen to work on. When and if you do not answer or pick up the specimen in a timely manner, the specimen will be seized to me and kept by me. This is why it is very important to give correct and updated contact information once I am hired by you the client. (Email address, phone number, clients address, IG) Having multiple sources of contact information will protect you the client when I reach out once the job is completed.

I know these are a lot of conditions to have in place when a client hires me for their specimens preservation. There have been many circumstances currently and in the past (from previous clients) for these conditions to be placed to protect me and also the client.

I am looking forward to working with you now and in the future! Thank you for placing your trust in myself and my skills! I am so excited to see the specimen you have for me to work on!

DISCLAIMER- IF I SUSPECT ANY FOUL PLAY/ INTENT TO HARM THE ANIMAL RECEIVED I WILL REFUSE ALL SERVICE AND ALSO ALL FUTURE SERVICES! I WILL NOT AND WILL NEVER WORK ON/ PRESERVE AN ANIMAL OR PET THAT HAS BEEN INTENTIONALLY HARMED. IF I DETERMINE FOUL PLAY/ ABUSE ALL COMMUNICATIONS WILL BE BLOCKED REGARDING ANY FUTURE INQUIRIES RELATED TO TAXIDERMY REQUESTS AND SERVICES. YOU WILL BE BLACKLISTED. I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ANIMAL ABUSE OR TORTURE OF ANY KIND!

WHY IS THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL IN MY WET SPECIMEN DARKER/CLOUDIER?

When purchasing a wet specimen, please keep in mind that these specimens will change in color and texture due to the chemical reaction that is occurring from the formaldehyde, isopropyl alcohol, and dead tissue. Wet specimens can last decades and there are a plenty that have lasted centuries. Formaldehyde and isopropyl alcohol slow the process but it is not 100% perfect. This is dead tissue and will always have a gradual change in color, size and texture indefinitely. Each specimen/animal is different so you can expect a difference in appearance for each specimen. You can definitely change the liquid with the 70% isopropyl alcohol when the liquid gets darker, cloudier or the specimen starts flaking too much. This happens because dead animals cannot be fully/perfectly preserved they will still "decay/change", it is just a slower process.

You definitely don't have to change the fluid if you prefer it cloudier but if you prefer it to be clear, you can change it every so often. I recommend that you find someone that is familiar with doing (a legit and professional local taxidermist) this instead of doing it yourself. If you are a regular client you can always DM me and I can always do it for you depending upon the circumstances. (a small fee may be charged to do so but not always. Client must provide the new bottles of isopropyl alcohol.) If you have any questions regarding any of this. Please DM me or send me an email!

Always use gloves and a mask when handling an open jar specimen. These chemicals are dangerous if directly inhaled and get on the skin/ body. If you do this yourself, please know the risk involved when handling a wet specimen. Please educate yourself. There are many resources online and be sure to be safe and always wear protection.

DO NOT LET PETS OR CHILDREN NEAR A WET SPECIMEN THESE ARE DANGEROUS CHEMICALS AND IF HANDLED IMPROPERLY HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. IF ACCIDENTALLY INGESTED OR IN GETS IN THE EYE OR ON THE SKIN PLEASE WASH THE EYES/ SKIN IMMEDIATELY CALL 911 AND GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY. USE COMMON SENSE AND BE CAREFUL!! IF THE SPECIMEN BREAKS DISCARD JAR AND POSSIBLY THE SPECIMEN. USE A MASK AND GLOVES TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE AREA AFFECTED. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY CLIENTS/BUYERS NEGLIGENCE WHEN HANDLING ANY TAXIDERMY PURCHASED.

CAN YOU DO OTHER FORMS OF TAXIDERMY?

YES! I specialize in many other forms of taxidermy. I usually center my focus on wet specimens and bones but I also create and produce other forms as taxidermy art as well. Such as, mummification, resin preservation, terrariums and other forms of decor, jewelry ETC.. and I will in the possible near future work on diaphonization!

If you have an idea of an animal you have or found, please reach out to see what I can make of it! (Only DFW area)

Currently I'm not working on mounts or pelts due to the high demand and consumption of time it takes to complete each clients requests. As of now I will not be taking in any new requests. I will definitely update when/if I continue to do so. Thanks for placing your trust into my skills!

WHY DID YOU START SELLING BODY CARE PRODUCTS AND HOME FRAGRANCE WITH TAXIDERMY?

Both have become passions. I started to make my own products because I have sensitive skin and dry skin issues from immune system disorders. So I wanted to get away from big name brand products that irritated and dried out my skin causing more issues. I kept it natural and simple to increase my skins benefits and decrease my issues. I have used natural products in the past and wanted to create my own that would cater to my specific needs and that's when I realized many people around me I know and loved had similar issues and wanted to help them with their skin as well. I also wash my hands continuously and natural CP soap and my body butters always keep my skin barrier protected and always moisturized! The home fragrance and incense are grounding. I have used many fragrances to calm and ground myself and helps relieve my anxiety. Suffering from a PTSD diagnosis using my scents to help calm and soothe my mind so I can stay present and enjoy my day while staying grounded. This is where © chill the fuck out™ custom scent was born and became one of the most beloved scents in my line.

All of these skin benefits and scents I have personally created also benefited my passion for taxidermy easier by helping my skin after extreme washing and smelling the decay/chemicals used to preserve all specimens. (These are my own personal experiences with my products. Others will/may have different experiences with my products.)

I have wanted to share this with friends and family and now care share with everyone!
